Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers has left the door open to extending power bill relief for households.
It has been more than a year since Labor announced energy bill relief for more than 5.5 million Australians and that support is set to be extended.
From last July, eligible households received a one-off discount of up to $500 off their electricity bills.
Jim Chalmers is staring down calls to provide new cost of living relief but it appears this old measure could be repeated again from next July.
“If there is more that we can do which is consistent with our budget constraints and is right for the economic conditions … we are prepared to contemplate it,” Mr Chalmers said.
