Iran will bear consequences for any escalation, Israeli military says

NEW DELHI: Iran will bear the consequences if it choses to escalate the tensions in the region, Israeli military said on Saturday, adding that the Israeli military is on high alert.

“Iran will bear the consequences for choosing to escalate the situation any further,” rear admiral Daniel Hagari said in a statement.

“Israel is on high alert. We have increased our readiness to protect Israel from further Iranian aggression. We are also prepared to respond,” Hagari added.

The statement was issued following the previous statement regarding the seizure of a vessel between the United Arab Emirates and Iran.

This comes as Israel braces for a potential direct assault from Iran within 24 to 48 hours, targeting either the southern or northern regions of the country.

In response to these heightened tensions, the US Embassy in Israel has implemented travel restrictions for government employees and their families, limiting personal travel to the central regions of Israel, Jerusalem, and Beersheba until further notice.

In a stark warning, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared on Wednesday that Israel “must be punished and it shall be,” labeling the airstrike as an assault on Iranian territory.
