The New York Jets’ quarterback depth chart is pretty well set coming out of the NFL Draft.
Still, Gang Green will need more signal callers in training camp this summer, so the team signed a pair while simultaneously releasing a quarterback on Monday afternoon.
The Jets announced the additions of quarterbacks Andrew Peasley and Colby Suits, both of whom tried out during the team’s recent rookie minicamp. New York also released another quarterback, PeeWee Jarrett.
Peasley, a Wyoming product who began his career at Utah State, threw for 3,565 yards, 30 touchdowns and 14 interceptions over the last two seasons.
Suits, meanwhile, spent four seasons at Louisiana Monroe before transferring to Houston Christian for the 2023 campaign, where he passed for 1,919 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 10 starts.
Jarrett played the last two seasons at West Florida and signed with the Jets following the NFL Draft. However, he was released due to “a concern with prior surgeries and my healing process,” he said on X/Twitter Monday.
In addition to their QB moves, the Jets also signed defensive back/returner Brandon Codrington and waived linebacker Tre Jenkins and defensive lineman Manny Jones.
Aaron Rodgers is the Jets’ starting quarterback, with veteran free agent addition Tyrod Taylor backing him up and 2024 fifth-round pick Jordan Travis serving as the No. 3/developmental signal caller.
