Jessie J has written a heartfelt message in honour of her boyfriend after giving birth to their first child together, describing him as a ‘beam of light’.
Last month, the Price Tag singer announced the arrival of her baby boy, writing on social media: ‘A week ago my whole life changed. My son entered this world and my heart grew twice the size.’
The 35-year-old shares her son with her boyfriend, basketball player Chanan Colman, 39, who she first started dating a couple of years ago.
While their relationship is kept largely out of the spotlight, in a post shared on her Instagram Story, Jessie emphasised how much her love with Chanan has impacted her life and how supportive he was of her on the day that she gave birth.
‘I struggle to keep things private. I think if you know me you know that. Lol. I want [to] protect people I love and keep it for just myself… And then so often I think f*** it because life is short but don’t want to regret it. Once you open the door you can’t close it. Bla Bla Bla… And so on and so on…’ she wrote on top of a picture of him holding her hand while she underwent a C-section.
‘But… I met this man, weeks after my miscarriage in 2021. Like a beam of light. He lit up my dark days. It was a whirl wind love and a miracle that we fell pregnant naturally with not one issue during. Grateful doesn’t cut it. He has given me many of the best gifts of my life.’

Jessie – whose full name is Jessica Cornish – continued: ‘He didn’t let go of my hand this day and I wouldn’t have been able to go through it without him.
‘The calm to my crazy. The peace to my fear. The Daddy to my baby. Thank you.’
In November 2021, Jessie revealed that she suffered a miscarriage after deciding to have a baby on her own.
She had previously been told that she wouldn’t be able to conceive a baby naturally.

When the Domino singer suffered a miscarriage, she said: ‘To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again.’
In her latest Instagram Stories, Jessie also shared a picture she took with her boyfriend, who’s face was covered with a cap for the photo, captioning it: ‘Mum and Dad.’
