Jeep Grand Cherokee recalled as wheels could fall off
FCA Australia is recalling almost 3000 examples of the current-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee as the wheels could fall off.
“The upper control arm retaining bolts may have been damaged during vehicle assembly,” the company says in its recall notice.
“This may cause the wheels to detach from the vehicle while driving, resulting in a loss of control.
“A loss of vehicle control increases the risk of an accident, causing serious injuries or death to the driver and/or vehicle occupants or other road users.”

- A total of 2854 vehicles are affected from 2021 to 2023, and includes both two-row Grand Cherokee and three-row Grand Cherokee L models
If you own an affected vehicle, FCA Australia advises you to contact an authorised dealership as soon as possible to have the work carried out, free of charge.
If you have any further questions, you can contact the company on 1800 870 714.
Jeep isn’t the first company to have to recall vehicles because the wheels could fall off.
Prior to their local launch, the electric Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra SUVs were also the subject of such a recall, as wheel hub bolts could loosen due to repeated sharp turns and sudden braking.
