Only two kids showed up to my little girl's second birthday party even though 10 RSVP'd - it broke my heart

An Australian mum-of-one was left devastated after only two of the 10 confirmed guests showed up to her daughter’s birthday party.

Bre, from Perth, hired out a play centre which charged per child for her daughter’s second birthday celebrations but hardly anyone showed up and offered no explanation.

The 23-year-old put on an impressive spread of food and elaborately decorated the party space with a place at the table for each child she was expecting to attend.

‘We had ten parents tell us that their kids would be there and because it’s play centre as well you have to pay per child,’ Bre said in a TikTok video.

‘However it was only her day care bestie and her day care bestie’s older sister and her cousin that showed up.’

Bre said she did not receive any messages or phone calls from the guests saying they wouldn’t be able to make it except one.

‘One of them got back to me five hours later saying, ‘Sorry I was taking a nap’,’ she said.

‘Parents, please do better if you can’t come just say so.’

The toddler didn’t let the no-shows get her down however and she enjoyed her time playing with her friend and cousin.

‘The birthday girl did not let it ruin her day at all – thank god she’s at the age where she does not notice things like that and she had the best time,’ Bre said.

‘We are so thankful for the people that did come and that she was surrounded by genuine love on her special day.’

Bre said she ‘wouldn’t wish’ the ‘nightmare’ on anyone else and reminded parents that if the same thing happens to them that all that matters is that ‘your child had fun and you did your part’.

‘I didn’t want any negativity surrounding this very special beautiful moment however I decided to end up sharing this because I bet you there’s more parents that have gone through this than just me,’ she said.

‘It’s actually a nightmare of mine that this happened because you see those videos where it’s like ‘no body showed up to my birthday’ and it’s just really sad and something you never wish for your own child or family member.’

Bre’s heartbreaking video caught the attention of more than 182,200 viewers who shared their support with the shattered mum. 

‘Honestly these adults need to grow up. Why would you say you’re coming and not even show up. I’m so sorry this happened. You are such a great mumma,’ one woman replied.  

‘I’m sorry that’s horrible, she’s gorgeous though! Don’t worry she’ll look back and think of her beautiful mum and how much effort to put into it,’ another wrote. 

‘She is so gorgeous. I’m glad she still had a good time. I’m sorry people are so awful and didn’t take the time to let you know they couldn’t come,’ a third added.
