“Squad” member Rep. Jamaal Bowman blasted Benjamin Netanyahu as a “maniac” on Saturday while branding the Israeli Prime Minister an obstacle to peace in the Gaza Strip and backing Sen. Chuck Schumer’s call for a new election in Israel.
Bowman (D-NY), who has been a steadfast supporter of a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, said he was “100%” behind Schumer amid the Senate Majority Leader’s calls to have Netanyahu removed from office as the Palestinian death count rises.
“There’s a humanitarian crisis. The majority of Gaza has already been destroyed through acts of collective punishment by this maniac, Benjamin Netanyahu,” Bowman told MSNBC on Saturday.
“I’m 100% with Senator Schumer. He needs to be removed. He is a blockade to a pathway to peace. And we need a cease-fire right now.”

Earlier this month, Schumer (D-NY), the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in the US, took to the Senate floor and declared, that the “Netanyahu coalition no longer fits the needs of Israel after October 7.”
Schumer also claimed that Netanyahu was an obstacle to peace in the region.
All of that came against the backdrop of mounting progressive unease over the war raging in the Gaza Strip, which was sparked by the bloody Oct. 7, 2023 surprise terror attack by Hamas that killed 1,200 Israelis.
This is about people, not politics. We must do everything in our power to ensure a permanent ceasefire, not send more bombs and weapons.

President Biden recently greenlit the shipment of another round of military weaponry to Israel, despite his recent flap with Netanyahu. The shipment included two dozen F-35 fighter jets, 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs, and 500 MK82 500-pound bombs, according to military officials.
Bowman panned the administration over the move to send weapons to the conflict zone amid a humanitarian crisis.
“Congress should have been notified and forget the politics of it. This is about our humanity, and this is about our morality,” Bowman said.
“We have hundreds of thousands of children starving to death in Gaza right now, as we speak. The majority of the American people support a permanent ceasefire.”

Efforts to marshal additional support for Israel through Congress have stalled amid an impasse over aid to Ukraine.
Democrats have demanded the two issues be paired to ensure Kyiv gets funding for its war against Russia.
Bowman, 47, was first elected to the lower chamber in 2020.
He is facing a spirited primary ahead of the Nov. 5 election — similar to many other lawmakers aligned with the “Squad.”
Last week, the Jewish Democratic Council of America endorsed George Latimer in his race against Bowman for New York’s 16th Congressional District.

The Post contacted Latimer’s campaign for comment.
Top Democrats such as Biden and Schumer have sought to make overtures to progressives roiled by the Palestinian death toll.
Last month, over 100,000 left-wingers in Michigan wrote in “uncommitted” during the Democratic primary for president in protest of Biden’s support for Israel.
