MUNICH, Jerman: Juara Olimpik dari Itali, Marcell Jacobs menamatkan musim bermasalah dengan rentak kemenangan apabila meraih gelaran 100 meter Eropah manakala pelari pilihan tuan rumah, Gina Lueckenkemper menang dalam acara wanita.

Jacobs menarik diri daripada kejohanan dunia bulan lalu sebelum separuh akhir kerana kecederaan paha yang menghantuainya sepanjang musim namun menyerlah hari ini dalam acara final dengan catatan 9.95 saat.

Juara bertahan, Zharnel Hughes kedua dengan 9.99s di depan rakan senegaranya dari Britain, Jeremiah Azu (10.13).

“Ini adalah musim yang sukar dengan pelbagai masalah, dengan kecederaan dan kaki saya tidak bagus,” kata Jacobs.

“Secara teknikal saya tidak gembira dengan cara perlumbaan, ada sedikit masalah, tapi saya amat gembira dengan pingat emas ini.

“Selepas emas Olimpik, kini saya dapat emas Eropah. Saya akan cuba dapatkan emas kejohanan dunia pula. Kami juga akan cuba dalam acara berganti-ganti kerana Itali juga mahu cemerlang dalam acara itu.”

Dalam acara wanita, pelari Switzerland Mujinga Kambundji tampak akan memenanginya sehingga Lueckenkemper dan pelari Britain, Daryll Nieta mengejarnya di penghujung aksi.

Pelari Jerman itu yang juga pemenang perak empat tahun lalu dan Kambundji masing-masing mencatatkan 10.99s tetapi Lueckenkemper hanya sedikit di depan. – AFP
