Chauncey Billups agrees that Michael Jordan didn't have a weakness in his game: "He didn't take no plays off from a defensive or offensive standpoint"

Count in Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups as one of those in the NBA who pick Michael Jordan over LeBron James in the greatest of all-time debate.

Mr. Big Shot was recently a guest on The Mark Jackson Show, and he was asked by Mark’s son Bluu where he stood in the GOAT debate. Without hesitation, Billups picked MJ, but he also said that he loves LeBron and thinks that he is right next to Mike.

“I’m not one of those people that is like, ‘I’m picking Michael, but I don’t like Bron,’ or you know, there’s a lot of people out here that don’t like LeBron because they love Kobe. I’m not one of those people. Michael Jordan I think is the greatest to ever do it that I’ve seen. There’s a lot of players that I never seen before my time and stuff. But I think Bron is right there, number two,” said Billups.

MJ didn’t take any plays off

Although Billups caught MJ at the tail end of his career, he was already in the NBA when the Bulls won their sixth NBA championship. Chauncey also faced Mike 10 times during the regular season, and he watched an older Jordan put up 25.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.1 steals per game against his teams. So, based on that, you can’t fault him for picking Mike over LeBron.

The host then asked Chauncey if he agreed with his dad Mark’s statement that MJ did not have any weakness in his game. Billups told Mark Jr. that he never spoke to his father about the topic but admitted that he, too, didn’t see any weakness in MJ’s game.

“Me and Jack never spoke about this before but I think that I didn’t see any weaknesses in him,” added Billups. “He could shoot it from anywhere, he can get to any spot, he was always the best defender on the floor like he didn’t take no plays off from a defensive or offensive standpoint. He was ultra-aggressive the whole game and wasn’t letting up. So yeah, I didn’t see no weaknesses in his game.”

Mark Jackson said Jordan had zero flaws

It was last month when, on the same show, Mark slammed critics who claimed that Jordan was a one-dimensional player who could not go to his left side. According to Mark Jackson, that accusation is ridiculous because he saw firsthand how Jordan dominated and prevented him from winning a single championship.

“Michael Jeffrey Jordan had zero flaws on the basketball court. He can go right, he can go left, he can shoot the mid-range, he can shoot the three, he can finish at the rim, he can finish in traffic. If you try to beat him up, he’s going to get up and respond. He was an elite defender. He had no flaws as a basketball player, so save your tape and don’t let it lie to you. He can go left and right and do everything in between those lines. We had no answer for them,” Jackson said.

The debate between MJ and LeBron goes on. And it will continue for years to come. Mark is correct that it’s crazy to say MJ couldn’t go left. However, it’s also outrageous to say that the man had no weakness in his game. Because if he didn’t, then the Bulls would probably have more than six titles. But as to whether he is better than LeBron, you can make a pretty good argument for that.
