The New Orleans Pelicans suffered a brutal loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of NBA Play-In games. Pelicans head coach Willie Green is pointing toward the referee’s, commenting on the Lakers’ free throw attempts.
Zion Williamson finished the game with 40 points and 11 rebounds in his postseason debut. Despite dealing with an injury late in the game he was extremely productive.
Green believes Los Angeles had an advantage in the free throw shooting category. The Lakers finished the game with 29 attempts, while the Pelicans shot 15 in the matchup.
The Pelicans are one of the most physical teams in the NBA, playing from the inside-out, but Green and fans across the league believe they’re being disrespected. This could have something to do with the star power on the Lakers roster, or just a clean game from Los Angeles.
“We’re one of the teams that dominates the paint night in and night out, we have a physical force in Zion… It just seems like we’re not getting those calls,” said Green.
