'It's been tough': Bird reflects on career
Jack Byrd, tough loss tonight. You put it down to a bit of ill discipline for your side. Yeah, I think we didn’t start too well. You know, we gave a a lot of six against a lot of penalties and you know we went in that the half up, but I think that didn’t help us. And then in the second-half we been executing get to our last plays and obviously a shot in the end. But yeah, it was unfortunate, but we just didn’t play the right game towards the end. As you said, you had your moments that back end of the first half. Can you put your finger on why you’re struggling to do it for 80 over the last few weeks? It’s kind of hard. You know, we’ve we’ve worked on it during the week and talk about it, but we can talk about it as much as we want. We we gotta get out there and do it and we keep saying it. But if we come out here and we just keep doing the same thing, you know, we didn’t get through our last play a few times and, you know, a few few bad kicks and, you know, drop balls and execution wasn’t great. You know, obviously the weather’s not good, but I mean that’s an excuse. So you know, we just got to be better and yeah, we weren’t good enough tonight. And I know it’s not the best way to celebrate a milestone, but 150 games, congratulations. Are you proud of how far you’ve come? Because it’s been quite the journey. Yeah, no, I appreciate that Emma. But yeah, it’s it’s been a tough journey. Obviously it’s taken some time to get here and I’ve played first go for 1010 odd years and I only got 150 and if you think about it. It’s been tough, but I’m happy that I finally got here and you know, nothing better playing at Shark Park where it all started. But yeah, like you said, it’s unfortunate we didn’t get the win, but. Yeah, I’m just grateful to be back on the field and get into the 150 mark. It’s great to see you back here. Still plenty of good times ahead. Jack Bird, thank you. Go and enjoy it with your teammates and regroup. Thank you very much.
