Jordan Spieth’s chances of winning his second green jacket may have just gone out the window on the 15th hole.
During the opening round of the Masters, Spieth managed to card a quadruple bogey on the 15th hole. That was supposed to be a golden opportunity for him to climb up the leaderboard since it’s a par-5.
Spieth unraveled after sending his third shot into the water. His fifth shot then sailed over the green before he needed three putts to close out the hole.
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time that Spieth has carded a 9 at Augusta National. He had a similar result during the first round of the 2017 Masters.
“Jordan Spieth makes a quadruple bogey at the par-5 15th, tying his highest score on a hole in his PGA TOUR career,” PGA Tour Communications said. “That is Spieth’s third 9 on TOUR and second at No. 15 during the Masters Tournament (R1/2017).”
Here’s a look at Spieth’s adventure on the 15th hole:
Spieth is now sitting right near the bottom of the leaderboard. It would take an epic second round score for him to make the cut.
That being said, we can’t count Spieth out. He usually steps up when he’s allowed to play aggressive on the course.
