Israeli flagged ripped from Jewish student at Cambridge pro-Palestine protest
Hey all Sir, well done. So I came into the protest and throw my flag and almost immediately I was pushed. My flag was grabbed and thrown to the ground and I was had to have a look at this. A very nice man who seemed to support me, who was able to get me back by 5:00 and then a person who had it. A best officer please liaison. I’m not sure if he was pleased or it’s just security then was sort of following me around I assume for my own safety, which I appreciate it. But it was an interesting experience to say the least. I just my main thing was to show that the Jewish people will not bow down, that we are strong and we will show that we’re never going to be led to gas chambers again. We will not go like sheep to the slaughter again and we will always show our strength and our resistance. I’ve I’m lucky enough to have. Quite a community of friends, Jewish and non Jewish, around me, who have shown their support, but also in Christ College for almost the entirety of last term and a bit of the term before. It was a Palestinian flag thing that I found and I knew for a fact that I hung my Israeli flag outside, that I’d have a picture into my window. But. Yeah, it’s obviously not great, but we’re Jewish. This is what has been happening to us for our entire history and just shows that the state of Israel is so needed. Yes, we will never be safe without the state of Israel. Without a place to call our home where we can live as a free people in our own land. Protest is fine. I’m OK with protests as long as I’m allowed to protest and say my own piece as well. And there should probably be some better organization I was pushing. My flag was grabbed and it could have been worse. It was, but I did get lucky and I think that there should be more protections in place for counter protesters and more organization in general. I’m fairly active in the Jewish society here and there have been some kind of protests throughout the year, but not very many and they’re not very well attended. Just most of the Jews here just want to study. I think the way I’ve reacted has been mostly in frustration and feeling like I have to do something but for I think the majority of people, but the more they do, especially, they really just don’t want to have to deal with this as they try to just live, work and study here.
