Israel strikes Rafah after Hamas claims rocket attack at border crossing
Israel pounded the city of Rafah in southern Gaza after Hamas claimed responsibility for a deadly rocket attack on the Kerem Shalom border crossing, that the Jewish nation said killed three of its soldiers. Health authorities in the Hamas-controlled enclave said that at least 16 people were killed as a result of the Israeli counter-attack on Sunday.
According to the Israeli military, 10 projectiles were launched from Rafah towards the border crossing, which has now been closed for aid trucks to enter Gaza.Â
The attacks came as the latest round of talks for a ceasefire in Gaza ended.
Hamas said that key demands made by the Palestinian militant group were again rejected by Israel despite “in-depth and serious discussions”.
