Black-eyed peas are rich in potassium, a mineral that helps keep your blood pressure levels at healthy numbers and lowers your risk of heart disease. However for people with kidney disease, high potassium foods are not recommended. Black-eyed peas are also high in protein, and some people with kidney disease need to limit protein intake as well. So if your kidneys are healthy, black-eyed peas are healthy. If you have kidney disease, black-eyed peas ma need to be somewhat limited in your diet.
