Islanders Legends Ken Morrow, Ed Westfall & Denis Potvin Headed To New York State Hockey Hall Of Fame

Last year, Stan Fischler and New York Islanders legend Jon Tonelli were inducted into the New York State Hockey Hall of Fame.
Per a press release shared on Thursday evening, three more Islanders legends will be inducted on Saturday, July 13th, in Troy, New York.
Ken Morrow
Drafted by the Islanders 68th overall in 1976, Morrow went on to play a vital role in New York’s dynasty.
He became the first player ever to win a gold medal at the Olympics and the Stanley Cup in the same season after accomplishing both in 1980.
Over his 10-year NHL career, all with the Islanders, Morrow did all the little things needed to win, with goal-soring not his forte.
He did have 17 goals with 88 assists for 105 points in the regular season before adding 11 goals — three in overtime — and 22 assists in 127 playoff games.
Morrow, who served as an assistant coach with the Islanders in 1991-92, was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1995 and the New York Islanders Hall of Fame in 2011.
Ed Westfall
Joining the Islanders for their inaugural season after winning two Stanley Cups in 11 years with the Boston Bruins, Ed Westfall was named the first captain in franchise history.
In 493 career regular season games on the island, Westfall recorded 105 goals with 181 assists for 286 points before nine goals and 20 assists for 29 points in 45 playoff games.
After retiring, following the 1978-79 season, Westfall joined the Islanders broadcast booth, calling games with Jiggs McDonald.
Westfall was inducted into the New York Islanders Hall of Fame in 2011.
Denis Potvin
While Westfall was the first Islanders player to don the “C,” Denis Potvin was given the captaincy from Clark Gillies ahead of the 1978-79 season.
Potvin was one of the best defensemen of his time, winning the Norris Trophy three times (1975-76, 1977-78, 1978-79), being named an All-Star nine times, along with four Stanley Cup rings.
Over his 15-year career, Potvin played 1,060 games, all with the Islanders, scoring 310 goals with 742 assists for 1,052 points.
Povtin was a force in the playoffs, with 56 goals and 109 points in 185 games, with 19 points in 21 games in 1980, 25 points in 18 games in 1981, 21 points in 19 games in 1982, and 20 points in 20 games in 1983.
In 1991, Potvin was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, seeing his No. 5 head to the rafters at Nassau Coliseum in 1992.
