IRPC has received an “Excellence” award by the ‘Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) under its ‘Low Carbon and Sustainable Business Index Project’, for its role in setting up and participating in several greenhouse gas reduction programmes.
Mr. Woravuth Sivapetranart, Senior Executive Vice President of IRPC, revealed: “IRPC received a Plaque of Honour for ‘Excellence’ from the 2021 Low Carbon and Sustainable Business Index Project (LCSi) from TGO, which evaluates businesses greenhouse gas emission management – in agreement with Thailand’s goals for sustainable development.”
Mr. Sivapetranart also announced plans to move towards a low-carbon society: “The climate crisis is the world’s big issue and business sectors need to cooperate to solve global warming. Hence, IRPC places great importance on having the most efficient resource management possible, with ongoing research into developing new material and energy innovations. This is a part of our goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2030.”
IRPC’s sustainable projects include:
- The IRPC Floating Solar Farm Project, the largest solar farm in Southeast Asia, expected to slash the equivalent of 9,459 tons of carbon dioxide per year and mitigate the risk of flood and drought risks in communities across Thailand.
- A solar panel installation project to power water pumps at two locations in Udonthani Province and Nongyang Village in Buriram Province, which reduced Greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 7.414 tons of carbon dioxide.
In addition, IRPC has participated in other TGO initiatives to cut greenhouse gas emissions, including the Carbon Footprint Organization, the Science-based Targets Initiative, and the Economic Mechanism Development for Internal Carbon Pricing and Investment for Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction and the Carbon Label Project.
