Ireland have absolutely demolished Georgia 11-0 in their 2023 World Cup qualifier on a wild and wet night in Tallaght Stadium.

Vera Pauw’s side made a dream start to the match with the goals coming thick and fast in a dominant first-half performance from the Girls in Green.

With just 18 minutes on the clock, Ireland star Katie McCabe fired in a cross from the left, with Georgia defender Maiko Bebia only able to head it into her own net and put Ireland 1-0 up.

Ireland reintroduced the passing game that fans of the side will have gotten used to during Vera Pauw’s tenure, and were not resorting to the long balls of last week against Sweden as they chased a second goal.

And they didn’t have too long to wait, as a corner from McCabe on the right landed on Louise Quinn’s head at the back post.

Quinn’s header was then flicked into the back of the net by Kyra Carusa.

A third goal arrived on 37 minutes, as McCabe cut the ball across the box for Lucy Quinn, who arrived to slam the ball into the corner.

And a fourth came just before the half-time whistle as Littlejohn squared the ball for Denise O’Sullivan to nutmeg the ‘keeper and score.

The second half saw Ireland add a fifth on 57 minutes, as Denise O’Sullivan notched her second with a quality finish over the ‘keeper from the edge of the box.

A brilliant header from Denise O’Sullivan saw her claim her hat-trick, while goal number seven came from a Katie McCabe penalty after Bebia got her second yellow for handball in the box.

Number eight was McCabe again, as she gathered the ball on the edge of the box, let it run onto her left foot and then turned to drive an excellent shot into bottom corner.

And with her first senior international goal, Saoirse Noonan equalled Ireland’s record win to add a ninth, much to the horror of the Georgians.

And the horror wasn’t over yet, as some shocking Georgia defending let Amber Barrett in for an easy finish from close range with just the ‘keeper to beat.

That 10th goal marked Ireland’s biggest win ever and Ireland went on to add a ridiculous 11th in injury time after a freekick looped in and deflected into the back of the net.

Ireland 11 Georgia 0 — what a night for the Girls in Green.
