Irak fliegt weitere Migranten aus Belarus aus

Der Irak hat Hunderte weitere in Belarus gestrandete Migranten zurück in ihre Heimat geflogen. Am Samstag startete in der Hauptstadt Minsk erneut eine Maschine der irakischen Fluggesellschaft Iraqi Airways nach Erbil.

Das teilte der belarussische Flughafen auf seiner Internetseite mit. An Bord der Boeing 747-400 seien 419 Menschen gewesen, darunter vier Kinder.

In den vergangenen Wochen wurden bereits mehr als 2000 Menschen belarussischen Angaben zufolge ausgeflogen. In einer Notunterkunft in einem Logistikzentrum in Brusgi an der polnischen Grenze harren aber weiterhin viele Menschen aus. Die Staatsagentur Belta veröffentlichte am Samstag Bilder von dort, die Kinder mit Plakaten im Schnee zeigten, die Papst Franziskus um Hilfe baten.

Seit Wochen versuchen Tausende Migranten und Flüchtlinge, von Belarus über die EU-Aussengrenzen nach Polen oder in die baltischen Staaten zu gelangen. Die EU wirft dem belarussischen Machthaber Alexander Lukaschenko vor, gezielt Menschen aus Krisenregionen nach Minsk einfliegen zu lassen, um sie dann in die EU zu schleusen und so die Lage im Westen zu destabilisieren. Die EU-Staaten hatten Stacheldrahtzäune errichtet, um die Migranten aufzuhalten.

Dem polnischen Grenzschutz vom Samstag zufolge gab es am Vortag 62 Versuche, die Grenze zur EU zu überqueren. Vier Menschen seien festgenommen worden, teilte die Behörde bei Twitter mit.

Die EU hatte am Donnerstag neue Sanktionen in Kraft gesetzt, die sich offiziell gegen an der Schleusung von Migranten Beteiligte richten. Auch die USA, Kanada und Grossbritannien schlossen sich neuen Strafmassnahmen an. Lukaschenko ordnete daraufhin Gegenmassnahmen an. Russlands Aussenministerium kritisierte das Vorgehen am Samstag als “nicht legitim”. Die Sanktionen würden sich zudem negativ auf das Leben der Menschen in Belarus auswirken, hiess es.
