We’ve heard of switch-hitting putters and we’ve even heard of switch-hitting golfers. Former MLP pitcher Jim Kaat has been known to shoot his age playing both left- and right-handed. But to play from both sides in the same round? Well, that’s something we needed to see to believe.
Fortunately, Ryan French, AKA Monday Q Info on Twitter, has his eyes and ears everywhere. And that includes the pre-qualifiers going on this week for next week’s Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour.
French shared some videos on Thursday of one man playing as both a righty and a lefty during his round. And apparently, he switches based on the length of the shot. According to French, he hits driver through 6-iron as a righty, and 5-iron down as a lefty. See for yourself:
Wild stuff. Although, as you can see from that early dispatch it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing this guy on the PGA Tour. Here’s another look:
You might be wondering a few things. For one, how good do you have to be to play in a PGA Tour pre-qualifier? Well, you need to have a 2.0 handicap. Although, based on some of the scores that get posted at these events, there have certainly been plenty of golfers who have fudged that.
For another, do you still have to stick to the 14-club rule? Yes. And, finally, which side does this dude putt from? Apparently, both, of course!
Good for him. You gotta swing your swing. Or, swing your swings, in this case.
