A three-bed house has come up for sale in an attractive part of Greater Manchester – with a price tag much cheaper than similar properties in the area – but there is a catch. The semi-detached house lies in Romiley in Stockport, a village which is home to four conservation areas with pretty, rural surroundings.

The property is up for grabs at an auction with a £110,000 guide price, which is a bargain compared to the average price of £312,690 for semi-detached homes in the area – according to Zoopla.

The house sits a good, central location close to the village centre with easy access to train and bus routes. It’s also a good size, compromising of a hallway, two reception rooms, a kitchen and lean-to on the ground floor, and three bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.

Outside there is a front garden and driveway, a garage and to the back there is good size garden. But, as the images clearly show, the semi-detached is in serious need of structural work and a full refurbishment – so it isn’t a project for the faint-hearted.

Images show the current state of the home with holes in the floor, some windows which have collapsed and its garden that is overgrown. The property will be sold ‘as is’ with any items, fixtures and fittings remaining.

Advertising the property, which is set to go to auction on March 26, Pugh Auctions explained: “The property has suffered from damage primarily to the rear with the collapse of bay windows to the ground and first floors.

A contractor has attended the property and propped the floors and roof and boarded the rear. We are advised that the Fire Service have turned off all utilities.”

The auction house then issued a warning to prospective buyers: “You must be aware that there is currently an Emergency Prohibition Order under Section 43 of the Housing Act 2004 on the property prohibiting occupation for living or sleeping until it has been repaired fully and to regulations.
