New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on Friday after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail until June 1 in the Delhi excise policy case.
The Delhi CM was welcomed by family members, including his parents and wife Sunita Kejriwal.
In his first reaction after release from jail, the Delhi CM declared war on “dictatorship”, saying that “Desh ko tanashahi se bachana hai.”
Invoking the blessings of Lord Hanuman and thanking his supporters, Kejriwal stated, “I want to worship Hanumanji. It’s because of his blessings that I am free today. I want to thank you all. I have a request to you all… Desh ko tanashahi se bachana hai. Main kaafi pehle se lad raha hoon. Ab bas 140 crore logon ko ladna hai.”
The Supreme Court on Friday granted him interim bail in the Delhi excise policy case till June 1 in connection with a past liquor policy scandal. Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta made the ruling. Kejriwal, facing charges in a money laundering case linked to an alleged excise policy scam, must surrender by June 2.
