I'm A Celeb's Ant and Dec give glimpse of 'wrecked' set after Storm Arwen

Ant and Dec have shown the behind the scenes damage done to the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! production base caused by Storm Arwen, as they returned to the live shows on ITV on Tuesday.

The award-winning co-hosts addressed the three-night absence of the show, as they revealed the shocking photos of the “wreck” that the storm had left the ITV production in.

Ant began: “You may have noticed we haven’t been with you since Friday night.”

Dec continued: “Yes, it caused a heck of a lot of damage here, as you can see, this is our technical base first thing on Sunday morning, an absolute wreck.”

The TV screen beside Dec showcased the extent of the damage, as the white base was half demolished while the ceiling had caved in along with scaffolding and wood sprawled across the floor.

Ant tried to inject his classic humour into the situation as he reassured fans that the Grade II listed castle was still intact.

He quipped: “It was awful, the castle was fine though, turns out these things are built to last.”

As Dec responded: “Who knew?”

The duo also revealed that the celebrities were not only evacuated over the weekend due to the storm, they also were also cut off from the outside world.

The campmates were put into social isolation with no access for their phones, TV or any internet access as they had in the castle.

Ant continued: “For safety reasons, the celebs were evacuated over the weekend and sent to separate locations with no phones, no internet, no TV and no access to the outside world.”

Dec praised the heroic team who had worked “around the clock” to get the hit ITV show back on air on Tuesday night.

He said: “Meanwhile we were working around the clock to get the show back on air, and when I say we, I mean a lot of bigger boys than us in hard hats and high vis jackets and they did an incredible job!

“Well done lads and lasses, thank you for your efforts.”

The hosts as well as the production crew all cheered for team that managed to get the show back online after the awful storm damage.

Ant and Dec were overjoyed to return to the castle as they shared a video to the socials to celebrate the news with the latest instalment of “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me In there!”

It’s the first time in the show’s history that the channel had to cancel three consecutive shows.
