I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here star Adele Roberts has given an update on her battle with cancer after undergoing surgery to remove part of her bowel.
The 42-year-old announced her diagnosis with bowel cancer on Instagram last week, where she told her followers that she would be getting an operation to remove the tumour.
Posting a picture of herself in a hospital bed on Instagram on Thursday, Adele said that felt like she was ‘starting to turn a corner’ and said she hopes to ‘go home soon.’
The Radio 1 DJ thanked her fans for all their support and well-wishes, writing: ‘Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone. You’ve been absolutely incredible! So kind, sending good wishes and looking after my family.’
‘You are the greatest! You’ve kept me going. I’ve had my ups and downs this week but today I really feel like I’m starting to turn a corner and hopefully I’ll be well enough to go home soon,’ Adele continued.
The former Big Brother star added: ‘I’m so sorry I’ve not been in here much. I’ve not really been on my phone but my family have been telling me how wonderful everyone has been. You’ve brought them so much comfort. From the bottom of my heart thank you.’
In her post, Adele paid special thanks to the NHS for their hard work, saying ‘I cannot believe how hard they work and how much they care, they’re angels on earth. They’re next level – so special. God bless the NHS.’
The brave star also shared her love to anyone else going through a similar situation at the minute and praised the other female cancer patients on her ward as being ‘warriors’ who are ‘inspiring’ her every day.
Adele had told fans earlier in the week that following the surgery she would be further examined to see if there was any more treatment necessary for her cancer.
