New York Jets quarterback Tim Boyle (7)
The New York Jets made potentially the most “Jets” play ever to close out the first half of their Black Friday contest against AFC East rival, the Miami Dolphins.
Only seconds after the Jets’ defense had intercepted Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for a second consecutive possession, not only did the offense give the football right back, but they threw gasoline on the fire.
With two seconds left on the second-quarter clock, Jets QB Tim Boyle had a hail mary attempt thrown from midfield picked off at the goal line by Dolphins safety Jevon Holland, who scampered 99 yards for a touchdown.
According to Next Gen Stats, Holland traveled 124.4 yards on his interception, the longest by a player on a scrimmage play this season.
Believe it or not, Holland’s incredible play wasn’t the first pick-six of the game or the last minute of the opening half. Jets CB Brandin Echols stepped in front of a Tagovailoa pass, returning it 28 yards for six with 58 seconds remaining. Though, seven plays later, the Jets offense had increased the deficit from four points to 11 heading into halftime.
The 2023 campaign has been a rollercoaster of emotions for the Jets. However, if this season or the final play of Friday’s first half has proved anything, no one gives and takes from the Jets quite like the Jets.
