The Los Angeles Chargers hold the fifth overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft after finishing the year with a disappointing 5-12 record. The only bright side of the tough season is that they now will be able to draft a potential franchise-changing player with such a high draft pick.

Many people believe that the Bolts will use the pick on an offensive player, with both linemen and wide receivers being mocked to them. New head coach Jim Harbaugh loves to build through the trenches, but one NFL writer seems to go a different route.

Ian Cummings of Pro Football Network has the Bolts trading down with the Minnesota Vikings to start. Los Angeles would receive the No. 11 pick, No. 42 pick and a 2025 second-rounder in exchange for their No. 5 selection.

It’s good value if the Bolts are willing to trade down, netting them some additional draft capital.

11) Los Angeles Chargers (From MIN): Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama

“In this 2024 NFL Mock Draft, the Chargers trade out of the top 10, add two second-round picks, and still net the top CB prospect in the class. That’s a home run for Joe Hortiz. Terrion Arnold perfectly encapsulates the tenacious energy Jesse Minter wants in his cornerbacks, and he doubles as a suffocating cover man with his speed, fluidity, and reach.”

Per Ian Cummings of Pro Football Network

Arnold was a stud at Alabama last season and is seen as the best cornerback prospect in the class. He could single-handedly change the trajectory of the Bolts secondary, giving them a shutdown type of player.

Last season for the Crimson Tide, Arnold put up 63 tackles, 6.5 of them for loss. He also added one sack and five interceptions throughout the year.

Los Angeles desperately needs an upgrade in their secondary, and Arnold could be the first domino to fall. This would be a home run selection for the Bolts and a great start to Harbaugh’s tenure as head coach.
