KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 — Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani warned that strict action will be taken on those who perform provocative acts and incite racial as well as religious sentiments, following the appointment of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th prime minister today.

He called on the people to refrain from organising any form of political gatherings or parades in public places for the time being.

“For the sake of safety and public order, media social account users are also advised to avoid displaying acts that can cause conflict within the community.

“The police will stay committed in discharging their responsibilities in maintaining security and upholding the rule of law for the well-being of the nation,” said Acryl Sani in a statement tonight.

He was commenting on the current state of security following the appointment of Anwar as Malaysia’s prime minister today.

Earlier, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman and newly-elected Tambun MP, was sworn in before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, ending days of uncertainty following the 15th general election (GE15).

Acryl Sani also requested that the public refrain from any hostilities following the outcome of the democratic process concerning the appointment of the 10th prime minister.

He said the formation of the new government after GE15 was made in accordance with the principles of democracy as provided for by the constitution.

On behalf of the Royal Malaysian Police, Acryl Sani also conveyed its congratulations to Anwar on his appointment.
