‘I Absolutely Fully Deny’: Red Bull Boss Christian Horner on the Ongoing Investigations

Christian Horner’s investigation on the allegations of inappropriate behavior has been the talking point in the last few weeks in the Formula 1 world. The pre-season testing is about to get underway on February 21, but the issue is yet to be resolved. Defending champion Red Bull recently launched the RB20 at Silverstone, and despite being in the news, Horner attended the launch event.

In light of the situation, F1 has released a statement that reads, “We hope that the matter will be clarified at the earliest opportunity after a fair and thorough process. We have noted Red Bull has instigated an independent investigation into internal allegations at Red Bull Racing. We will not comment further at this time.”

Even after Horner’s hearing on February 9 with an external barrister, the details of the investigation were not made public. However, according to a new report, it has been known that the Red Bull boss sent sexual messages over WhatsApp to a female employee for an extensive period of time.

The Brit also allegedly tried everything to bury the matter, and as per De Telegraaf, when the investigation was underway, he purportedly offered £650,000 to settle the issue.

Amidst the turmoil, Horner recently appeared on the Fast and Curios podcast, where he denied the accusations.

“Well, the allegations that have been made that I absolutely fully deny. Obviously, I’m complying with a process, that’s an internal process and I’m afraid due to its confidentiality I can’t comment further than that,” said Horner.

Moreover, Christian was questioned about whether this whole controversy has become a distraction just before the new season is about to take off.

“Well, I think obviously there’s been a huge amount of focus on the build-up to the season. Obviously, it’s a process that I’m fully complying with, but obviously there’s been a day job to do as well which is very much focussed on the season ahead,” said Horner.

Red Bull have been a dominant force in the last three seasons and have won 5 titles out of 6. Last year, the team won 21 races out of 23, with Max Verstappen winning his third consecutive championship. The team and the fans would hope for the Horner issue to be resolved as soon as possible and focused on to keep the winning run going, as the Milton Keynes outfit is still considered favorites for the season.
