I bought a burger at McDonald's while travelling in Thailand - here's why you are better off going somewhere else
A Scottish travel influencer has given his verdict on McDonald’s in Thailand – and he was not impressed.
Posting to TikTok under his handle @hughabroad, the vlogger reviewed items he said were unable to be found in European or American branches.
Introducing the review, he said: ‘I’m currently outside McDonald’s in Thailand and I’m trying some items on the menu that you can’t get in Europe or the US’.
He then proceeded to order a corn pie and a Samurai burger, which is made using pork meat instead of beef.

Unwrapping the burger before tucking into it, Hugh seemed slightly underwhelmed by the contents, which he described as ‘a bit of salad, a bit of mayonnaise and a very thin patty’ and ‘some sort of barbecue sauce’.
Tasting the Samurai burger appeared to do little in the way of changing Hugh’s mind, as labelled it ‘extremely average’.
He said the patty was ‘unbelievably thin’, adding that the burger ‘didn’t really taste of anything’, rating the item five out of ten.
Moving on to the corn pie, the travel vlogger noted its similarity to the British apple pie, saying that it was ‘very small but roasting hot and crispy on the outside’.
Hugh was equally unimpressed by his choice of dessert, despite saying the outside was ‘very good’ thanks it being well-cooked with a crispy texture.
He was, however, less complementary of the pie’s filling, branding the sweetcorn flavour as ‘horrible’, which saw put the dessert back in its packaging after just two bites.
Giving a verdict, he said: ‘I’m rating that one a very generous two out of ten’.
Summarising his experience, Hugh said: ‘All in all that was an extremely average meal that cost me 120 Thai Baht (£2.65).’

‘Although it’s cheaper than ordering McDonald’s in the West, there is no debate when comparing the quality to that of Thai street food, which is available for a similar price and you’re much better off spending your money with local vendors’.
Other users disagreed with Hugh’s take on the corn pie, as they leapt to its defence in reply.
One user posted: ‘The corn pie is the best thing on the menu in Thai McDonald’s’.
A second wrote: ‘Omg you gave 2/10 to the corn pie? It’s my favourite!’
