Bradley – who excelled during the game after being called into the starting XI to replace injured Alexander-Arnold at right-back – was quick to praise his team-mate following the game.

He said: ‘Trent’s obviously the best right-back in the world at the moment, probably the best player in the world at the moment with the way he’s playing.’

The 20-year-old starlet went on to add: ‘Trent’s a big miss but I just tried to do everything I could to fill in for him and thankfully we got the win.’

Bradley put in an impressive showing at right back on Wednesday night in the absence of the injured Alexander-Arnold, gaining high praise from his manager.

Former Liverpool man Jamie Redknapp, meanwhile, speaking on Sky Sports, suggested that Bradley, 20, can provide the option Jurgen Klopp needs to put Alexander-Arnold in midfield permanently.

‘They’ve unearthed one this this last few weeks, Conor Bradley,’ Redknapp began. ‘What they might have done is found the right back that they need to make sure they can go and get Trent into playing a central midfield position.

‘I have felt it for years that that’s where he’s going to end up and with him, this kid’s got so much energy. He didn’t do as well first sort of 20 minute, he struggled a little bit, but second half he was absolutely fabulous and what a player they’ve got there, absolutely brilliant.

‘He’s another one coming through the ranks that’s going to help everyone and it just gives you just extra bodies in there if you want to play Trent as a midfield player. He travels well, he’s good on the ball, and he’s comfortable, confident.’

Bradley, who has made 10 appearances for Liverpool, spent a year on loan at Bolton in League One last season, winning their Player of the Year award before returning to Anfield.

He was deputising for Alexander-Arnold, who has been ruled out for a few weeks with a knee issue, but could see more game time with the Reds vice captain normally inverting from defence but often looking more comfortable in midfield.

Jurgen Klopp was very complimentary of Bradley's performance on Wednesday evening

‘You know I’m not sure he makes it home so he probably will fall asleep in the dressing room,’ Klopp said of the Northern Irishman after the game. ‘What a boy, wonderful, fantastic character, real talent top potential and he’s in the right team because everybody loves him, everybody respects him everybody wants him to succeed.

‘That was a great a great game with all the difficulties, super hard, super tough somehow he was involved as well in the goal we concede them falling over the ball or whatever.

‘As a team it was obviously first half we caused ourselves some problems, really compact defending and we played a lot around this, and then we were stuck on the wing, no fluidity there and we had to change that.

‘We had to play more in the half spaces and we changed that at half time and the boys did really well there.’
