Hyuna and Dawn, one of K-pop’s favourite couples, are engaged!

The couple caused a stir on February 3, when they shared the news with fans in matching Instagram posts. But this is not the first time that they have shocked the public.

Having been together for more than five years, Hyuna and Dawn’s dating life has caused many controversies – and won them many fans along the way.

Their unique engagement rings cost a year’s rent

The couple showed off unique, beautiful matching engagement rings in their Instagram announcements, wowing fans.

Days later, according to Koreaboo, the designer of luxury jewellery brand Diligems revealed that she made them with white gold, opals and seven diamonds of different shapes and colours.

She also mentioned that the rings cost enough to pay her yearly rent, and stressed that she’s customised them for Hyuna and Dawn only – and will never create duplicates.

In a guest appearance on JTBC’s Ask Us Anything, Hyuna admitted that she liked Dawn first and it was one-sided for more than a year, as reported by Soompi.

She also crushed on him at a time when she was already a superstar and he was just a trainee. This melted fans’ hearts because it seemed to show how Hyuna couldn’t care less about popularity or status when it comes to love.

In 2018, the couple caused controversy by publicly admitting their relationship, as K-pop idols are usually forbidden from dating by their agencies. Hyuna also revealed that they had already been secretly dating for two years.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Hyuna and Dawn left their former agency and joined Gangnam Style star Psy’s label, P Nation. Despite the controversy, the two continued to share their dating status with the public.

In her live performances, photo shoots and music videos, Hyuna always made headlines for being “too sexy”. In 2018, a video taken during her concert went viral when the singer took off her shirt while performing. It happened during the Midnight Picnic Festival at Gangwon-do, where she went on to perform the dance break for her song Red in just her bra as the crowd went wild.

Hyuna and Dawn also recently went viral for sharing an onstage kiss after their performance of their song Ping Pong at the Seoul Music Awards.

One time was during their couple shoot for Calvin Klein, where both were wearing underwear and posing for the cameras. While Dawn was working, Hyuna shyly stayed on the sidelines watching her boyfriend. Dawn likewise watched Hyuna when it was her turn to pose. Fans were quick to applaud the good-looking couple for publicly expressing their affection.

Another video fans loved was a casual clip of them sharing a kiss in a pool underwater.

Other than looking good together, Hyuna and Dawn also dress well together. The couple seem to be able to pull off any outfit, no matter how eccentric or over-the-top. At times cute, at times sexy, but always cool, there’s always a shock element to the outfits they choose to wear, but isn’t this what they’re good at?
