Huskies Add Speedy Arizona Freshman RB Jordan Washington

Instead of just having Washington stitched across the back of his jersey, a talented Arizona freshman running back has decided to put his last name on the front of his jersey, too.
Jordan Washington, a former four-star recruit in the 2024 class, announced Sunday afternoon following an official visit to UW that he will play for the Huskies’ football program and first-year coach Jedd Fisch.
Scottie Graham saw more than just an electric running back when he signed Washington to Arizona out of Long Beach Jordan High School this past December.
In the eyes of the now-Huskies running backs coach, Washington, who finished second in the state of California with a 10.44-100m time in spring 2023, is more than just a player with straight-line speed
“Real elusive. He’s tough. He’s physical,” Graham said after Washington signed with the Wildcats in December 2021.
“He can run a route tree. You can put him in a different position. You can put him in the backfield. You can put him in the slot. He has return ability. He’s really an outstanding human.”
Washington stood by his signature and went through spring practices under new Arizona coach Brent Brennan before entering his name in the transfer portal on April 25.
But after more consideration he’s decided to rejoin the coaching staff who first took a chance on him back in May 2022.
“He’s sudden,” Graham added with emphasis. “That’s the thing that makes Jordan really good. He’s a sudden, explosive guy. A lot of guys are explosive, but they’re not sudden. What I mean by that is [he] makes a guy miss, and he gets vertically as quickly as he can.”
During a game his junior season at Jordan, Washington reached 21.1 miles per hour as he broke away for an 86-yard touchdown, according to Reel Analytics.
In three varsity seasons Washington accumulated 3,024 rushing yards and 38 rushing touchdowns, to go along with 1,026 receiving yards and 9 touchdown receptions over 34 career games.
He also added 569 kick return yards, most of which came between his sophomore and junior year.
Washington is the 13th total former player to sign with or enroll at Arizona to follow Fisch to UW.
He joins fellow freshman, quarterback Demond Williams Jr.; running backs Jonah Coleman and Adam Mohammed; wide receiver’s Kevin Green Jr. and Audric Harris; offensive lineman Michael Watkins; defensive lineman Russell Davis II, Isaiah Ward and Bryce Butler; linebacker Anthony Ward; and defensive backs Jordan Shaw and Ephesians Prysock, all of whom either play for Fisch in Tucson or signed on to play for him but later chose to rejoin him in Seattle.
