A California man was charged Tuesday with the murder of his wife, who has been missing since January 2021.
Larry Millete had been a person of interest in the death of his wife, Maya, since July but was finally taken into custody around noon at his home in Chula Vista, the San Diego Union Tribune reported.
Maya Millete, 39, had called a divorce lawyer on the same day she disappeared, Jan. 7. Her body still has not been found.

She was reported missing Jan. 10 by extended family after not responding to calls and text messages, according to the Union-Tribune.
Maya and Larry were planning a trip to Big Bear, about 100 miles north, along with their three children when she disappeared. Friends were immediately worried because it was supposed to be her eldest daughter’s birthday celebration.
One relative spoke of an ominous last message from Maya: “If anything happened to me, it would be Larry.”
“As the evidence unfolded in this case, it pointed in one direction — that [Maya] was murdered,” San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan said, according to the Union-Tribune.
Larry was also charged with illegal possession of an assault weapon.
Maya’s family pleaded with Larry to reveal the location of his wife’s body so the children could have some sort of closure, the Union-Tribune reported..
“Let the kids know where their mommy is,” Maya’s sister Maricris Drouaillet said. “Let them know the truth.”Internet Explorer Channel Network
