6 nabbed for illegal quarrying
MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested six men for alleged involvement in illegal quarry operations in Hermosa, Bataan.
The suspects – Saldy Adelantar, Christoper Alba, Rio Bueno, Domingo Leal, Arjay Mamalateo and Mark Anthony Santos – were collared in an entrapment in Barangay Maambog on Feb. 15.
The sting was launched after the NBI received information about an illegal quarry operation in the area.
The NBI said the suspects were caught extracting and disposing of minerals without permit from the provincial government and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The arresting team said they seized trucks and mining equipment from the area.
