One woman living just north of Karuah said she felt the earthquake.
‘There was a very loud boom and the house shook for around 10 seconds,’ she said.
‘My dog must have (felt it). He carried on jumping up and down and going inside and out for about an hour around that time,’ another said.
No injuries or damage to properties have been reported.
