How to style curly hair — for maximum curl definition

Once a month, Nancy Falaise closes the doors to her Montreal salon to lead a workshop for young Black girls teaching them how to care for their natural hair. Falaise and one of her workshops were the subjects of the CBC short doc Nancy's Workshop; Nancy's Pro Tips features her best hair care tips and tutorials that didn't make the final cut.

“A curl definition is done on very wet hair,” says hairdresser and curly hair expert Nancy Falaise. In this episode of Nancy's Pro Tips she shares her top techniques for styling curly hair, from the importance of starting with small sections and having a spritz bottle handy, to using your fingers as a comb to fully define your curls. Check out the video above to watch Nancy's full tutorial and get her step-by-step instructions.

Watch more of Nancy's Pro Tips and the short documentary Nancy's Workshop over on CBC Gem.
