The pre-draft process is a mind-boggling whirlwind for many top prospects every year, and Micah Parsons was no exception.
Heading into the 2021 NFL Draft, Parsons was widely regarded as perhaps the best defensive player in the entire class, but it was still hard to peg where he’d land in the first round.
One team he didn’t want to play for? The Philadelphia Eagles.
On the most recent episode of his podcast, “The Edge with Micah Parsons,” the former Penn State standout told Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love about his pre-draft experience, and why he skipped his interview with the Eagles because he didn’t want to play in Philly:
As fate would have it, the Eagles traded up to the No. 10 pick, swapping spots with the Dallas Cowboys, with Parsons still on the board. They took Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith instead, leaving Parsons for the Cowboys to select at the No. 12 spot.
Smith has been no slouch for the Eagles, but things have worked out pretty well for Parsons, who has made the Pro Bowl in each of his three seasons so far, with two first-team All-Pro nods, and NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors as a rookie.
