Three fighters in line for superstar status at UFC 300

The UFC is headed to T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 18 for UFC 300.

The card features 12 former and current UFC champions, six pound-for-pound fighters and two championship title fights. Dana White, CEO and president of the UFC, told TNT Sports that “UFC 300 is the greatest combat sports card ever assembled.”

With Saturday’s fight night being one of the most anticipated events all year, these three fighters will have the opportunity to catapult themselves towards greatness on one of the biggest stages ever.

Jamahal Hill

The former undisputed light heavyweight champion was forced into vacating his belt following a torn Achilles in 2023. Fast forward to today, and Hill is set to return to the Octagon and will have a chance to reclaim a title that he never truly lost.

His opponent? The current UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira.

Pereira, a double champion, poses as Hill’s toughest challenge yet with serious knockout power and bruising kicks. However, Hill enters UFC 300 with a four-fight win streak and, for what it’s worth, is undefeated in UFC title fights (1-0).

Additionally, in Hill’s 13-fight career (12-1), he has four first-round knockouts (seven total) and has never lost to a decision (4-0).

“Mark my words when I say this,” Hill said on his YouTube channel. “Whenever I do fight (Pereira), standing, I will knock him out.”

If Hill finishes one of the most feared fighters, not only will he find himself back in the pound-for-pound rankings, but he will also enter superstar standing.

Arman Tsarukyan

Tsarukyan has emerged as one of the best lightweight fighters in the UFC and is coming off a first-round knockout against Beneil Dariush.

The Armenian prodigy finds himself back on a pay-per-view event for the first time since UFC 275 in 2021. This time, he’s up against renowned Brazilian fighter and No. 1 ranked lightweight contender, Charles Oliveira.

Even at the ripe age of 34, Oliveira poses as one of the biggest threats in the sport. In 32 career UFC fights, “Do Bronx” holds the UFC record for most finishes (20) and submissions (16).

Despite Oliveira being a force in the ground game, the 27-year-old is extremely well-rounded and can beat his opponents in many different facets.

A win over one of the most dangerous men in the UFC will set Tsarukyan up for his first title shot and a rematch against the current UFC lightweight champion and No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter, Islam Makhachev.

Max Holloway

One of the UFC’s very best in Holloway has fallen behind the scenes as three straight title losses have been at the forefront of that.

However, a brawl against the relentless Justin Gaethje gives the former champion a shot at being the third fighter to hold the BMF title and could very well put him back into title contention.

Though a rematch between Ilia Topuria and Alexander Volkanovski is probable for the featherweight title, Holloway is next in line to retain a belt that was once his.

The talent and ability is undeniable. Holloway is statistically the best striker the UFC has ever seen, leading far and away with the most significant strikes ever landed (3,197).

Being such a box-heavy fighter, Holloway has received his fair share of hits, which has brought his future of fighting into question. A win would silence all the doubt as a second title stint would be in play.
