The National Weather Service is predicting that travel could be impacted on Friday and most regions of South Jersey could see significant snow totals through Saturday.

Here is what to expect and when to expect it.

Is it going to snow in South Jersey?

Friday’s forecast is shaping up nicely to deliver a few inches of snow, with temperatures dropping significantly as the day turns to night and sustained winds up to 20 mph and gusts around 30 mph.

Flakes will start falling late Friday night into the wee hours of Saturday morning, when the winds will die down. Between one and three inches of snow could be on the ground by Saturday afternoon with another inch possible through the rest of the day.

Temperatures will near 40 and winds will pick up to about 5 to 15 mph.

Rain, maybe snow, for South Jersey beach towns

As has been the trend this winter, snow is possible but rain is more likely along the Shore.

During the day Friday, strong winds are expected to hits speeds of 15 to 20 mph with wind gusts of 35 mph. The temperature will shed about a dozen degrees, falling just below freezing.

Snow could move in between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. and then mix with rain throughout the night. Any snow accumulation will likely top out at 2 inches at the most.

Rain and snow are expected to mix through late Saturday morning, with both wind speeds and temperatures climbing a bit.
