2 SPORTS Director Jack Pohl worked with Kirk in the past, and has released a statement.

I started my broadcast career under Steve Kirk working overnights leading into his highly rated morning show on WING.  He was very instrumental in me pursuing a career in broadcasting.  “Kirkie”  remained a mentor of mine for decades.

Kirkie was first and foremost a wonderful man who knew how to make everyone in the room smile and laugh.  His quick wit, engaging smile and a personality that was always the biggest in the room, will be remembered as one of the greatest broadcasters in Dayton history.”
