BTS members RM and V have officially enlisted in the South Korean military on Monday.
According to reports, RM and V will enter the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, South Korea as active-duty soldiers. After their basic military training, they will be assigned to their respective units.
V applied to serve for the special mission unit of the Army Capital Defense Command.
A day before their enlistment, RM and V posted photos showing their buzz cuts.
“It was a dream. Shaved head and sunglasses. I wanted to try it someday, and it worked out well,” V said on Instagram. He also posted a photo of Jungkook with a buzz cut.
A day before enlisting, RM and V wrote a heartfelt letter to ARMYs on Weverse, with RM admitting he found “it hard to speak” now that “the day has finally come.”
“I was so happy to live as a member of BTS for the past ten years. I’ve always said this, but the end is also a beginning. I firmly believe that something good awaits us after this,” he continued.
RM added, “It must have been much harder for Jin and J-hope, who had to endure this time before us. Seeing them handling it so bravely gives us great courage. I believe these 18 months, whether long or short, will be a time of strange and new inspiration and learning for all of us.”
Meanwhile, V began his message by saying that he will be missing ARMYs so much.
“18 months is a long time, and I will come back much healthier, so please take care of ARMY’s health and if you are looking for something to be happy about every day, voila. I’m here!” he continued.
He said that he has prepared a lot of things in his 18 months in the military that his fans could look forward to.
Ending his post, V said that he will be back soon and will continue to make memories with them.
“I really miss you and I love you so much So you have to wait until then. I’ll be back soon!” he said.
Earlier in November, Big Hit Music announced that RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have initiated the military enlistment process.
Jungkook previously announced through a WeVerse post that he will be enlisting in the military this December. Jungkook will be enlisting in the military on December 12, along with Jimin.
Three BTS members are already serving in the South Korean military: Jin, who enlisted in December 2022, j-Hope in April 2023, and Suga in September 2023.
BTS is expected to reconvene as a group in 2025. Until then, here are 7 BTS songs that will definitely comfort all ARMYs as we wait for the boys’ return.
