New Delhi: India has logged 760 COVID cases in the past 24 hours. As per the data issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as of January 4, 2023, India has reported a total of 4,50,15,843 COVID cases, an increase of 760 since Wednesday.

For the active caseload, the tally stands at 4,423 which is a decrease of 17 cases since Wednesday, as reported by mygov.in. A total of 775 people have also recovered in the past 24 hours, taking the total recovery number to 4,44,78,047.

As of January 4, 2024, new cases have been detected in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir.

The highest case count remains in Kerala and Karnataka, where the active tally stands at 1,464 and 1,175 respectively. Kerala and Karnataka are also the only states to have reported new deaths in the past 24 hours. Both southern states have logged one death each.

Meanwhile, cases have decreased in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Puducherry and Manipur, in the past 24 hours.

Apart from this, Assam, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand have reported one case each. Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Chandigarh, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Nagaland have reported zero COVID cases.

As of Wednesday, a total of 511 cases on the new JN.1 subvariant has been reported, with the maximum number of cases in Karnataka.

Official sources have revealed that 199 cases have been reported from Karnataka, 148 from Kerala, 47 from Goa, 36 from Gujarat, 32 from Maharashtra, 26 from Tamil Nadu, 15 from Delhi, four from Rajasthan, two from Telangana and one each from Odisha and Haryana.
