Human remains were found at a home after housing association staff had to force their way inside. Employees from Bolton at Home made the grim discovery when they visited the property in Bolton.

Police were called to the scene and a spokesperson confirmed that “skeletal remains” had been found inside.

The Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “GMP received a call to an address on Hemsworth Road in Bolton at approximately 10.50am on Thursday 9 March 2023, to reports of a deceased body.

“Sadly, skeletal remains were found inside the property. There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances.”

Manchester Evening News reports that police have passed a file to the coroner’s office.

Bolton at Home chief executive Noel Sharpe said: “On Thursday 9 March, one of our staff members discovered a body at one of our properties in Hemsworth Road, Halliwell, after gaining entry to the property.

“We are working with police and the coroner’s office to assist with investigations into the circumstances surrounding this incident and are unable to comment further while these investigations take their course.”

“We’re saddened by what’s happened and know this may be very upsetting for people living nearby.

“We will offer as much support as we can and encourage anybody with any concerns to contact us on 01204 328000.”
