Evan Mobley is all around just a phenomenal basketball player. He’s already made a name for himself as one of the NBA’s best defenders and makes his presence felt on offense. Mobley stuffed the stat sheet in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ victory over the Detroit Pistons and made a little franchise history in the process.
Mobley finished the night with 22 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and two blocks. He was everywhere on the floor and the box score resembled that dominance.
This is now Mobley’s third career game with at least 20 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists. He becomes just the fourth player in Cavs history to have at least three 20-15-5 games. The other players are LeBron James, Brad Daugherty, and Kevin Love, via CavsNotes on X.
Mobley is also the first Cavs player to put together a state line such as this when then LeBron James did it on January 11, 2008, per @CavsNotes on X. In that game, LeBron scored 31 points, grabbed 19 rebounds, dished out four assists, recorded four steals, and blocked three shots.
Yes, this is getting a little nitpicky with the stats. But anytime you put your name in the conversation as something LeBron James did during his prime, it’s impressive.

For Mobley, it’s about not overcomplicating anything. “Making simple plays. Keeping the game simple, not trying to get out of your comfort zone doing too much.”
It’s great to see Mobley show how dominant he can be. It wasn’t too long ago that he was sidelined and rehabbing from knee surgery that he underwent on December 15. If the Cavs want to make a deep playoff run in April and May then they’re going to need to get more performance such as this one from Mobley.
