not rock! wwe announces former champion for elimination chamber in australia
WWE will make its return to Australia after six years and stage the Elimination Chamber in the country. The second premium live event of the year will take place at the Optus Stadium in Perth. From World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Rhea Ripley to Cody Rhodes, WWE has already announced marquee superstars for the show.
On Saturday (January 13), WWE announced another marquee superstar for the show. While many are expecting that the marquee superstar is The Rock, that’s not the case. CM Punk will travel to Australia for the Elimination Chamber.
The former champion had made his WWE return in November 2023 and has made few televised appearances since then. He will also travel to Australia and will entertain the crowd there. It will be interesting to see if he takes part in a match there or returns after taking part in a segment.
A month before the Royal Rumble, Punk will make his televised in-ring return for WWE and take part in the Royal Rumble match. He has participated in two live events since his return to the company.
As for The Rock, he could still surprise the fans by making a shock appearance at the Elimination Chamber. The People’s Champion teased a match against Roman Reigns upon his WWE return on Day 1 and is likely to face him at Wrestlemania 40.
The buildup for that match could start at the Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber. Roman Reigns too has not been advertised for the show yet.
Who will main event Elimination Chamber?
Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley is one of the strongest contenders to main event Elimination Chamber. She comes from Australia and could finally become the first female superstar in three years to finish a premium live event. Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair were the last two female superstars to close a mega show. They main evented Wrestlemania 37.
