Hong Kong police launched a citywide manhunt for two men who rammed their car into a patrol vehicle and a parked Mercedes-Benz van on a dead-end street in Kowloon before fleeing in the early hours of Tuesday.
All six officers from the police vehicle escaped unhurt in the incident on Shek Ku Lung Road in Kowloon City, according to a source close to the case.
The insider said officers from the Kowloon City patrol unit followed a white Mazda that they identified as suspicious as it drove from Carpenter Road onto Shek Ku Lung Road shortly before 3am.
After the Mazda stopped in a parking space on the dead-end road, the police vehicle pulled over horizontally in front of the white car.

“Shortly after officers disembarked, preparing to approach and carry out a stop-and-search, the car suddenly accelerated and rammed into the police vehicle and a [black Mercedes-Benz delivery van] parked beside it before fleeing the scene,” the source said.
“Some of the officers involved had to dodge to avoid being hit by the car.”
Police said the vehicle was carrying two men thought to be aged between 20 and 25.
The incident caused damage to the left side of the police vehicle and the front-left corner of the parked van.
About nine minutes later, the white Mazda which sustained damage to its front-left corner, was found abandoned on Kam Shing Road outside Hong Kong Baptist Hospital in Kowloon Tong. The two locations are 2.3km (0.62 miles) apart.
The two suspects remain at large.
The car was suspected of being used to deliver illegal drugs at the time of the incident, the insider said, adding an initial investigation revealed that it was a rental car and officers were looking for the person who rented the vehicle.
Detectives from the criminal investigation unit are handling the case.
On June 10, two officers opened fire on a Lexus car and arrested its driver after a bungled escape attempt on Princess Margaret Road in Ho Man Tin that ended with a Mercedes-Benz and a police vehicle rammed. Police seized 42 grams of suspected cocaine, packaged in 80 bags, allegedly found in the car.
