Homes Under The Hammer has reportedly axed host Tommy Walsh in a huge show shake-up.

The former Ground Force star, 67, is said to be replaced by TV weatherman and Radio 2 host Owain Wyn Evans, 39, in a bid to ‘keep younger viewers interested’.

Tommy joined the BBC renovation show in 2021, alongside an array of co-hosts, and already filmed his final episode last year, according to The Sun.

A source told the publication: ‘Bosses wanted a makeover to keep younger viewers interested.

‘They have been keen to get Owain onto one of their popular shows for a while — he will add a new dynamic.

They added: ‘The upcoming series will feature both Tommy and Owain as there is a three-month lag with the house makeovers, so there is some crossover.’

Owain previously hosted regional weather before landing spots on The One Show and his own early morning show on Radio 2, as well as appearing on Homes Under The Hammer’s celebrity special last month.

It comes after Homes Under The Hammer’s Martin Roberts revealed doctors warned he had just ‘a few hours to live’ after he was rushed to hospital for emergency heart surgery.

The 60-year-old underwent the life-saving operation last year after mistaking chest pains for long Covid last year.

Martin learned he was suffering from pericardial effusion, which is a build-up of fluid in the structure around the heart, and was rushed into surgery that saved his life.

Speaking to The Sun’s TV Mag, Martin said: ‘A year ago, I had a problem with my heart that hadn’t been noticed.

‘The sack around my heart had expanded and was putting pressure on the heart. I had less than a few hours to live.

‘Had I not been in the right place… Three weeks earlier I was on the road in a transit van and if it had happened then, I would be dead.’

Martin added that his health scare left him ‘willing to try anything’, which then led him to sign up for the E4 series The Big Celebrity Detox.

The series, which came out last May, saw mystic Sah D’Simone take eight celebrities through a series of toe-curling therapies designed to make them feel spiritually cleansed.

He was joined on the show by Kerry Katona, Megan Barton Hanson, Toby Aromolaran, Ibiza Weekender’s David Potts, Too Hot To Handle contestant Chloe Veitch, kickboxer Michael ‘Venom’ Page and Princess Olga Romanoff.

The presenter had previously detailed his terrifying hospital ordeal on This Morning, telling Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes he’d suffered from chest pains for several weeks, but simply assumed they were long Covid.

He said: ‘I’d been feeling a bit poorly, under the weather for a couple of weeks. I’ve had a few chest infections over the last few years and I’ve had asthma since childhood, so I’m used to quite a tight chest.

‘As it approached the Easter bank holiday weekend, it was starting to get really bad where I could hardly walk without struggling for breath.’

He added: ‘The confusing thing about this, it’s a bit of a red herring, is that it gets you in the breathing side of things, so you don’t think it’s something to do with your heart.
