PITTSBURGH — Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph has plenty of NFL career left in his game, and the Tennessee Titans are hoping his best football is ahead of him.
Rudolph left the Steelers in free agency, signing a one-year deal with the Titans for 2024. Speaking about the move on the Ramon Foster Show, Foster said Tennessee’s coaching staff love what Rudolph brings to the table.
“He’s enjoying himself. We talked about some very specific stuff, you know about how he felt. I think it was good that he got to do something outside the city. I think he needed it,” Foster said. “Their offensive coordinator (Nick Holtz) spoke today and the Titans have some high praise about Mason. He said, ‘He was a guy we evaluated and looking at his tape, his command at the line of scrimmage, how he checked and how he audibled, and his decisiveness and his play. We think his best ball is ahead of him.’ They think highly of the kid. He’s got a huge chip on his shoulder.”
Rudolph is expected to be the backup to Will Levis this season but could find himself impressing enough to compete. The former third-round pick is entering his first season outside of Pittsburgh.
The Steelers were hoping to get Rudolph back this offseason but went a different direction with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Now, Rudolph is set to make some noise with the Titans while Pittsburgh hopes their new QB room can raise their bar.
