Shadow Home Affairs Minister James Paterson has promised the Coalition “will spend more” than the Albanese government and “will get capabilities sooner”.
‘We will spend more than Labor on defence’: James Paterson hits out at Albanese govt
Overnight, China accused Australia of having a Cold War mentality and that it poses no threat to any other nation.
Defence spending has risen to 2.5 per cent of total spend.
“It only gets to those levels in 2033 and 2034,” Mr Paterson told Sky News Australia.
“We will spend more than Labor on defence – you can rely on the Coalition to do that.
“We will spend more.
“We will spend it faster.
“We will get capabilities sooner.”
