Helen Skelton final Strictly Come Dancing star confirmed for 2022 series

Helen Skelton is the final celebrity confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2022 following her break-up from rugby husband Richie Myler.

The Countryfile presenter will be taking to the ballroom this September, in the show’s 20th season. Strictly’s official Twitter account confirmed the news alongside a picture animation of the star with the Strictly Come Dancing sign and confetti.

The news comes days after Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter slammed the mother of 2 for signing up to the show to look for love

Strictly announced the news on Twitter saying: “Blue Peter, Countryfile and now… the #Strictly dance floor! Helen Skelton is ready to reach for the Glitterball.”

Helen said: “I’m really excited to get stuck into a fun adventure. My family and friends have always loved the show and can’t wait for me to get started.”

Helen very publicly broke up with Leeds Rhinos star Richie Myler a few months ago and she reportedly signed up for the BBC show’s 2022 series allegedly “hoping to be struck by the Strictly curse”.

While on the ITV talk show Janet said: “Helen Skelton has said this? That she’s looking for love on a TV show? – I just think it’s revealing too much. It just makes me anxious for her that she’s revealed too much. She sounds too needy.”

Helen joins the star-studded line-up alongside fellow Essex contestant Ellie Taylor, comedian Jayde Adams, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, Will Mellor, Kym Marsh and more.
